Sunset Publishing Services has a long history as a preferred supplier to many of Australia’s leading commercial publishers, as well as self-publishers. Our skills and services cover a wide range of prepress functions, including editing, proofreading, design, typesetting, layout and technical illustration. Many of our staff have been working in the graphic arts industry for over 30 years, which brings a high degree of confidence to our major book publishing clients and first-time authors.

Non-fiction

Sunset Publishing Services has produced many non-fiction books, including reference works, autobiographies, historical books, pictorials, cookbooks, atlases and mapping titles. Our name (as Sun Photoset, Sunset Digtal or Sunset Publishing Services) is carried on the imprint pages of more than 2000 published titles. Around Australia

We were asked to produce both the first and second editions of Around Australia, a 400-page, high-quality, colour pictorial and reference book aimed at motorhoming and caravanning enthusiasts. This book provides details on the best routes and sightseeing opportunities throughout Australia. Hema Maps added their detailed touring maps as a ready reference to the many locations and features in the book, with cross-references to the maps provided in the general text.

St Helena Island Moreton Bay

Sunset Publishing Services was proud to produce for Inspire Publishing the definitive history of one of Queensland’s most important historical sites, St Helena Island. This 240-page, lavishly illustrated work is a rich resource for visitors to the island, as well as family historians. It paints a vivid picture of the daily lives of prisoners, wardens and the families who spent time in this former penal settlement. The book won a Gold Heritage rating in the 2011 Queensland National Trust Bendigo Awards.

The Bibliography of Australian Literature

We are proud to have been involved with The Bibliography of Australian Literature, a multi-volume set of literary history, which is the result of more than 15 years of collaborative research into the publication history of creative writing by Australian authors. The volumes contain details on over 10 000 Australian literary authors and their works, dating from 1788 to 2000. Our involvement included proofreading, indexing of all the authors’ works, and typesetting more than 2000 pages of text.

Fiction

Sunset Publishing Services has produced numerous novels for the Australian publishing market. We work for some of the largest publishers in Australia, as well as self-publishers.

Our skills and experience encompass editing and proofreading, cover and internal page design, page layout, typesetting, drawing illustrations, and manipulation of photographs.

Sunset Publishing Services’ reputation for producing books for the education market is second to none. Our team has been working with education publishers since the 1980s, meeting both their technical requirements and the often tight deadlines required in this sector of the market. The Sunset name appears on the imprint pages of maths, physics, chemistry, accountancy and law books used in schools and universities across the country.
